Our Commitment
We care for pets every day, in every season, with safety as our top priority. This page explains how we handle weather challenges so you can trust your pet is always cared for.
Rain or Shine
Do you still provide services when it rains? Yes. We operate rain or shine unless conditions are unsafe like lightning, wind, tornadoes or hurricanes.
Will my pet still go outside? Walks may be adjusted for safety, but pets always get a full visit with potty breaks, indoor play, and care. We towel-dry pets before leaving (please let us know where the pet towels are stored!)
What if my pet hates the rain? We customize visits with indoor play and comfort breaks when needed.
Heat Safety
How do you keep pets safe in hot weather? We avoid hot pavement and stick to shaded or grassy routes. Walks include regular water breaks. Dogs are encouraged to remain calm, and walk durations may be shortened for their safety. Some team members are also equipped with cooling vests to help pups cope with the heat in order to get as close to a full walk in as possible, still being sure to monitor the individual for signs of discomfort or heat exhaustion.
Do you walk dogs in extreme heat? When conditions are too hot for safe walks, we may switch to drop-in visits to keep your dog cool and comfortable while still providing care and attention. We still take them outside for potty breaks and some exercise but may spend more time indoors playing.
How do you decide to walk or not to walk? We consider temperature, humidity, walk location, and your dog’s age, breed and .
Do some dogs need extra care? Dogs with shorter noses (like pugs or bulldogs) require extra heat precautions, as well as those with short/thin hair, and may spend more time indoors.
What if my dog loves the sun? We may let them relax in sunny spots safely, balancing their enjoyment with their wellbeing.
Will my dog still get exercise? Absolutely. We use indoor play to keep pets active and safe.
Can I share my preferences for my pet’s activities? Yes. We welcome you to let us know your preferences and your pet’s desires for warm weather visits so we can tailor their care.
These precautions help prevent heat exhaustion and heatstroke, which can be life-threatening for dogs.
Snow & Winter Weather
Do you operate in snow? Yes, as long as roads are safe for our team. We will notify you if extreme weather requires changes.
What if conditions worsen? We may shorten outdoor time or adjust visit schedules and will notify you promptly. If the safety of our handler could be in jeopardy, a visit might be cut short.
How do you protect pets in cold weather? Outdoor time is limited based on cold and wind chill. We encourage coats and booties for pets who need them and focus on indoor enrichment. We do also do our best to avoid areas where salt is visibly spread to ensure pups limit what they might ingest after licking their paws.
General Safety Practices
How do you decide when to modify a visit? We consider weather, road conditions, and each pet’s body language.
Will I be notified of changes? Yes, we communicate any adjustments clearly.
Do you charge differently for modified visits? No. Pets always receive full care and attention.
Can I change appointments due to weather? For any bad weather—hot, cold, or rain—you can change your appointments to ensure your pet’s comfort and safety.
